Gogglebox’s Paige spills show secrets in explosive interview – from strict rules and favouritism to gruelling filming

GOGGLEBOX'S Paige Deville has made a series of bombshell claims in an explosive tell-all interview - spilling the beans on the series' "controlling" rules and gruelling filming.

The 25-year-old Brummie sparked shockwaves earlier today when she sensationally announced that she won't be appearing in the new series on Twitter.

In a scathing message, she slammed producers for providing "zero after care" and being "controlling" - before revealing the devastating real reason behind her exit.

Paige appeared on the show alongside her mum Sally after signing up in 2019, and has shared that they've suffered a bitter fall-out and she now has "nothing to do with" her mother.

But after shedding some light on her shock Gogglebox departure, the TV favourite opened up about her experience on the programme as a whole to BirminghamLive - and it's safe to say there's no love lost.

'FAVOURITISM'

Paige claimed that she and her mum were often the back-up option for show bosses, and would be asked to film "at the drop of a hat" when "more popular characters" weren't available.

She cited siblings Sophie and Pete Sandiford and the Malone family as producers' first choice, with she and Sally only drafted in when they weren't available.

'GRUELLING SCHEDULE'

While sitting on your sofa with loved ones talking about the telly might sound like a dream job, Paige insisted that it was "tough".

She explained: "Filming is long. You would start at 3.30pm and finish at 12.30am and be paid £100 each per filming session.

"Filming is tough. You would stop to go to the toilet but other than that you wouldn't have a break. You would eat while filming."

Paige went on to add that her mum had to keep her arm around her for four hours during filming because producers told her not to move, concluding: "It's not as glamorous as you might think. It is very hard work."

'NO SUPPORT'

In her no holds barred tweet, Paige was vocal in her view that Channel 4 do not offer the stars enough support, and she shed some more light on this in the new interview.

After her heartbreaking fallout with her mum, she said that producers only sent her the phone number for a therapist - which Paige feels wasn't enough after care.

She also claimed that Gogglebox stars are "thrown into the lion's den" when it comes to being thrust into the public eye, and at the mercy of cruel online trolls, without enough guidance or support from bosses.

'CONTROLLING RULES'

Paige went on to accuse Gogglebox producers of being "controlling", with their strict rules "taking over her life".

Giving an example, she shared: "I bought a car and Gogglebox contacted me to say I need to make it clear the purchase wasn't endorsed by them. Your life is controlled somewhat by them."

Taking to Twitter this afternoon, Paige had written: "I have made the decision to walk away from Gogglebox. It’s been an experience but one I cannot continue with due to long hours of filming, restrictiveness, control of our actions and opinions & zero aftercare support but hey who cares about ex cast, [they’re] NTA winners.”

Channel 4 responded in a statement: "The welfare of contributors – past and present – is of paramount importance and robust protocols are in place to support contributors before, during and after taking part in the series.”

Paige's departure comes amid a difficult few months for Gogglebox, which has endured three heartbreaking deaths, and seven cast members quit the programme ahead of tonight's new series.
