A BRIDE has revealed how she lost an impressive 7st by ditching her daily Greggs from her diet.
In the space of two years, Katy Peters, 30, went from an unhealthy 18st 2lbs to an impressive 11st 4lb by training herself to like broccoli.
Katy, from Bridgend, Wales, said: "I had always dreamed of fitting into my 'dream' size 12 dress. That was always my goal.
"But actually, when I was at my fitting it was a little bit big on me. Whenever I pick up my phone and take a glance at my wedding pictures, it still blows my mind how much I managed to lose.
"I say to myself 'well done, Katy'."
Katy, who met the love of her life Matthew Peters at a nightclub in Bridgend in 2008, said she was "in denial" about her weight for many years and had half-heartedly tried slimming groups in the past.
She admitted: "The turning point came when I saw a picture of myself sitting on a sofa holding somebody's newborn baby.
"I honestly didn't know where I ended and the sofa began."
Katy, who got engaged to Matthew following his romantic proposal in London's Covent Garden in December 2014, finally plucked up the courage to join Slimming World in March 2016.
She said: "The date I joined will always stick in my mind, as that was the date that changed my life.
"This time I knew I wasn't going to just play around. I was determined to do something about my weight."
After reading through the books and listening to her Slimming World consultant's advice, she began to change her diet.
"I don't like vegetables, but I trained myself to like broccoli," she said.
"I used to eat Greggs constantly as it's just across the road from where I work. But for months and months I just refused to go in there. Instead I'd prepare fresh stuff at home.
"Before long I could really feel the difference."
Katy and Matthew tied the knot in glorious sunshine at The Grove Golf Club in Porthcawl on August Bank Holiday 2018.
"When we first got engaged I honestly couldn't picture myself getting married because of the way I looked," said Katy, who still attends her Slimming World group in Aberkenfig each week.
"But Matthew has never looked at me any differently. He said he would have married me even he'd had to roll me down the aisle."
Katy, who works for an electrical wholesaler in Pyle, said her best advice to new slimmers is to "never give up".
"Just take it pound by pound and believe in yourself," she added.
